I know some of us are having a tough time staying motivated to train.
With no events in the near future it is hard to wake up at 4:00 AM to train.
There are many athletes that are very self motivated and others that need
an outside source to help them stick to a plan. I’m a little of both.

Here are a few things I try to do to keep on my plan or at least stay at a base level of training.

NOTE: When appropriate and/or required by the group, social distance and wear a mask.

Now is a perfect time to get someone you know exposed to triathlon and share your knowledge and experiences.

⦁ Most of us enjoy being a mentor and it will refresh your knowledge and help you learn new things.

⦁ A new athlete won’t care if you are in great condition or not.

Make a commitment to yourself and tell others about it.

⦁ Telling others reaffirms your commitment and helps create accountability.

Get on a training plan maybe even get a coach that will hold you accountable.

⦁ Some coaches are as low as $90 a month and right now would probably welcome the business.

Sign up for a virtual race.

⦁ It’s not the same but there are PRs to be broken and what better stress free environment to set a new PR.

Join a group, commit to going to a group event and SHOW UP.

⦁ Group events are fun, you may make new friends, share stories and knowledge and learn new things.

Hang out at a bike shop or running store and share stories.

⦁ Who doesn’t love to talk bikes and running.

Watch race videos on youtube.

⦁ If the above doesn’t fill your time or it’s not for you this is a great way to get away from depressing COVID News.

Remember the training you do today will benefit you in the future.

⦁ When you start your next plan your base will be stronger and who doesn’t want a stronger base.
